Horseheath Neighbourhood Plan Group

Welcome to the Horseheath Neighbourhood Plan web page

The Plan is additional to the South Cambridgeshire Local Plan which sets the requirements for new developments including housing, transport, infrastructure, climate mitigation and biodiversity. The creation of a Neighbourhood Plan will enable Horseheath residents to influence future developments in the Parish in all these areas.

Objectives

The draft objectives we have set for the Neighbourhood Plan are shown below and are subject to parishioners’ support.

1. To identify appropriate sites for future affordable housing within the Neighbourhood Planning area

2. To identify and formally designate village amenities, green spaces and infrastructure

3. To ensure future development is in keeping with the established character of the village

4. To ensure future building and infrastructure development is undertaken to the highest standards of energy efficiency reducing Horseheath’s carbon footprint

5. To promote the Greater Cambridgeshire Landscape Character Assessment 2021 within the designated area enhancing habitats and biodiversity to protect Horseheath’s rural status

Latest News/Activity

The Neighbourhood Plan Group last met in September 2025. We are awaiting clarification of the Governments intentions for Neighbourhood plans as the funding has been withdrawn. Additionally the proposals to alter the structures within Cambridgeshire to create unitary authorities may impact the use of neighbourhood plans. We will update this page when we have more information.

Work has gone on in the four areas shown below.
