Horseheath Village Hall and Playground

Horseheath Village Community Association have been busy coming in to the New Year - read all about their plans. This includes their efforts to improve the play area in front of the Village Hall.

Published: 9 January 2026

We will be focusing on continuing to update and improve the hall this year, the floor in the main hall is desperate for a re-sand and staining so we will be focusing our funds from events towards this.

We were hoping to try and run x1 event  each month which will include a quiz night, food night, big lunch, car boot/table top sale, x2 markets, games nights and maybe a bingo night.

The weekly coffee morning will continue it has gathered a good following.

We are filling up with daily classes and parties/events.

We are tidying up the garden each month and hoping to refresh the garage and all surrounding area.

With regard to the play area we appreciate during the renewal process the playground is greatly missed. We are working to restore it as fast as possible. We have put in an application for the playground including a garden area to the front and updating the patio at the back to the Lottery fund. We are hoping to make better use of the land in front of the village hall  to include a sensory area and children’s garden corner with a gazebo. We are grateful to Cat who is kindly helping us with this area and the possibility of grants from other sources.

During this transition the area has not been landscaped as this would be a waste of resources in advance of the new playground and the update of the garden.  We have limited funds at present from the hall and are waiting to see if we receive monies from the Lottery. We have had some support from a local landowner and Horseheath Lodge; the Parish Council also have committed substantial funds to the project. We are continuing on a monthly basis to keep the area tidy by cutting back the overgrowth around the perimeter.
