District and County Councillor Report June 2026
A summary of what is happening in South Cambridgeshire
The small village of Horseheath sits within its own Parish amongst the rolling countryside south-east of Cambridgeshire close to both Suffolk and Essex. With a population of around 460 people, the Parish includes the hamlet of Cardinal’s Green which is divided from the main village by the A1307 Cambridge to Haverhill Road. We have a long history with beautiful buildings and local walks including the Roman Road to Cambridge. Our active community includes the Horseheath Village Community Association which manages our charming Village Hall. Horseheath Cricket Club play regularly on the cricket ground while our Grade 1 listed All Saints Church will delight you. There is always a warm welcome at the Old Red Lion Inn. Enjoy this site - but better come and visit our delightful village!

The proposed Kingsway Solar farm to the north of us would be the largest solar farm in Europe. The plans have now been received by the Planning Inspectorate who will decide by the 18th June whether they will accept them. Public views will be sought after this.
Horseheath Village Community Association have applied for a Lottery Grant to renew the playground in front of the Village Hall. The area currently has security fencing around it but as soon as the Village hall has secured funding the new playground will be created.
