Horseheath Lodge has plans to plant 20,000 trees on the Estate. The first 2000 are being planted close to the old farmyard to create a wood which will enhance biodiversity and be part of the rural experience for small parties of school children. The Estate will offer a rural destination to schools to include forest schools and experience with small numbers of livestock. Sessions are offered to schools as part of the Wild Roots scheme which is already proving to be very popular following visits from one Haverhill School.
The Estate plane to re-develop the farmyard (plans are currently being reviewed by Greater Cambridge Planning Service). This is very much a philanthropic project for the good of local schools, communities and of course families and their children. We welcome this initiative!
