The Proposed Grange Farm Development in the draft Greater Cambridge Local Plan – Open Meeting, Monday 17th August 7.30pm at West Wickham Village Hall

The Greater Cambridge Draft Local Plan includes a new housing development of 4500 houses sited north of the A1307 at Abington and adjacent to the A11. There are only two proposed access roads – one on to the A1307 – and as yet no indication as to where the water to support such a large new development would come from. This proposal is a significant threat to a historic rural landscape and we think it is important that every resident can see the proposals and form a view for themselves. Not surprisingly there is a campaign group coordinating concerns about the proposals based in Abington called SAVE (Save Abington Village Environment).

Attached to this page is a short briefing paper and the first presentation given by SAVE at a recent briefing for other local Parish Councils.

There are two planned public meetings locally about this proposal. Firstly the Greater Cambridge Local Plan team will be running a drop in session for local residents at Linton Library on Monday 17th August from 4.30-7.30pm. At 7.30pm the West Wickham and Horseheath Parish Councils will hold a joint meeting for both Parishes at West Wickham Village Hall. Cllr Henry Batchelor will be present as will members of the SAVE team who will also give a short presentation outlining the proposal and their concerns.

This is the largest planned proposal for additional houses in our part of South Cambridgeshire for many years and will change our area significantly. Do make sure you hear all sides of the arguments so that you cna provide your comments in the consultation on the draft Local Plan. Please send this on to other local people…..
